Limitations
  • Looks and works like Facebook and Edmodo, but there are no ads and is closed to others outside of the class.
  • Student account creation only needs a first name, last name, username, password, and the Join code from the teacher.
  • The ability to give parents access to Schoology and groups.
  • Apps can be added to Schoology in each class to enhance learning.
  • Teacher cannot make accounts for students in their class from their teacher account.
  • Teacher must verify class accounts w/Schoology for classes created for students under the age of 13 yrs old.
  • Parents must verify and give permission for their child, under the age of 13 yrs old, to access and participate in the Schoology environment.

Schoology is a Web 2.0 tool that is used by educators to create a secure and trusted environment for sharing ideas, files, and assignments with students and parents. Schoology also allows for a powerful social learning environment for classrooms. This social learning aspect of this site is a very powerful feature helping to increase student learning.

Teachers will be exposed to ideas and strategies to develop a collaborative space for students that has limitless possibilities for students, teachers, and parent to collaborate and share notes, thoughts, and projects.

Getting Started with Schoology



Teachers:
  1. Go to Schoology Login and select that you are a teacher.
  2. Begin creating your courses using the Courses tab at top of web page.

Students:

Using Schoology

Once you have logged in, you can create your first course. Students can be added to a course via a course code. Teachers can send/share messages, assignments, quizzes, or notes with specific groups of students and parents.
